ASG
With Fu Manchu. Friday, March 14, at Peabody's.

This North Carolina quartet's initials stand for Amplification of Self Gratification. We really don't know what that means. But we do know that ASG plays fuzzy and kaleidoscope-hued stoner rock on its latest album, Win Us Over, which combines mind-blowing guitar solos, steamrolling riffs, and hazy snatches of melody. And because they're southern guys, ASG can't help but bring some good-'ol-boy stomp to the party. But mostly the band is down with expanding perceptions. "Dream Song" appropriately shifts moods a few times before eventually working itself into a frenzy of twin guitar attacks and shotgun rhythms. Grab your bong — it's gonna be a brutally fun time when ASG comes to town this week.
