Now Someone's Looking for the Browns Security Guard Who Posted on Craigslist

Posted By on Tue, Nov 30, 2010 at 10:28 AM

sexy-browns-fan.jpg

Back in early October, we brought the story of a lovestruck security guard at Browns Stadium who took to Craigslist's Missed Connections section in pursuit of a young lass who caught his eye during a game.

Now, there's more to the story.

I got an email this morning from a woman purporting to be the young lass in question. The original Craigslist post has expired, so the contact info for the anonymous security guard is gone. She would like to get in touch.

Here's what she had to say:

I was searching every website I possibly could to find this security guard that I met at the Browns game on October 3rd. I came across that article you wrote about the guard that posted that add on craigslist about 2 months ago. It was on October 5 that you wrote the article I believe. If you have any possible way that you can get my in touch with him I would so appreciate it! I haven't stopped thinking about him since that day and this is fate that I came across this article. Please help me if you can, hope to hear from you!

Is this real? Will this be the 0.00001% of Craigslist Missed Connections that actually work out?

I'm 90% skeptical. Part of me believes someone from the Browns is trying to find out the security guard's identity so they can discipline him for for trying to find his soul mate. But then there's that 10% that believes this could be the real thing.

Our young lass also posted to Missed Connections this morning.

browns game october 3rd sec 146 - w4m - 21 (chagrin falls)

I saw the add you posted 2 months ago in an article for 64 and counting...I had no idea you posted something on this website and I'm so sorry it took so long to find you. I know what I gave up that we both would kbow and I remember you. I've been trying to find you too....please contact me if you see this or if anyone knows who that security guard is at the browns stadium

So, if you know either party, let's make this happen people. Let's make a love connection via '64 and Counting, which would pretty much be the highlight of my blogging career.

Dan Gilbert's Early Designs for Cleveland Casino Show LeBron Billboard

Posted By on Mon, Nov 22, 2010 at 9:23 AM

A video obtained through a public records request by the Plain Dealer shows early designs for Cleveland's new casino. The video was shown to the Ohio EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in a meeting on October 21 because Dan Gilbert wants to narrow the Cuyahoga River "to give the casino an extra 29 feet of space along 686 feet of bulkhead," according to the PD.

As the presentation shows the casino, it also shows downtown Cleveland, including... yes... the LeBron billboard. That has to sting every time Dan Gilbert watches it.

Here's the screenshot. Video below that.

LeBron James Movie is No More

Posted By on Mon, Nov 15, 2010 at 11:18 AM

For years now, a movie about a group of men attending a LeBron James fantasy basketball camp has been in the works. It was to be King James' big step onto the big screen, a Hollywood venture with a big budget to follow More Than a Game, the indie doc on the St. Vincent St. Mary basketball team.

That project has finally been killed, which isn't shocking after James' popularity took a nosedive this summer.

According to Indie Wire:

The L.A. Times also reported another release change, completely taking the Lowell Ganz/Babaloo Mandel-penned comedy “Ballers” off the schedule. The film, about a group of men at a LeBron James fantasy camp, had a November release date planned, and was to shoot this summer. But the act of completely skull-fucking the sports community of Cleveland in order to have year-round summer camp with friends in Miami kept James from meeting his obligations.

Really, Sports Illustrated? You had to go with the Cavaliers' "All for One" motif and slogan?

Miami Heat Hosting Matthew Bellamy, That Guy Who Wore the LeBron Jersey at an Indians Game (Updated)

Posted By on Fri, Nov 5, 2010 at 12:13 AM

matthew-bellamy-lebron.jpg

Update: Bellamy finally got back to us but is understandably saying nothing at this point (probably at the direction of the Heat who most likely pleaded with him to stop talking to the media for the love of everything holy). Here's what he had to say: "no comment. can't do it, everything has been blown out of context, contact the heat, sorry bro."

And hopefully that's the end of the story.

***

Update: While the details of the when and why aren't clear yet, it turns out that Matthew Bellamy will not be getting the gold star treatment from the Miami Heat.

About eight hours after we posted this story and Bellamy told us about the dream trip to Miami, a Heat spokesman released this statement:

"An invitation was prematurely extended to him prior to the approval process being completed. Once Management became aware of this, it was decided that this is not something we wanted to do.

Hilarious, right?

I've asked the Heat when they informed Bellamy that the offer was no longer valid or official but have yet to hear back yet. It's at least clear that there was an invitation by the team at some point. I've also asked Bellamy about the timeline of this information and am curious what he might have to say.

Either way, yes, we're still talking about him, believe it or not, and yes, this has reached the point where it's news on ESPN.

***

The 15 minutes for Matthew Bellamy should have been long gone by now. Bellamy, if you remember, was the young man who wore a LeBron James Miami Heat jersey to an Indians game in Cleveland shortly after LeBron ditched the Cavs for South Beach. The wardrobe choice was unsettling to the natives. Chants were chanted, vulgarities were hurled, video and photos were taken and before you knew it, Bellamy was on ESPN, every TV station, and every blog.

Why are we talking about him now again, then?

It seems the Miami Heat liked Bellamy's little exercise of free advertising/ballsiness and extended a special invitation to Bellamy to come on down to Miami, attend a game, and meet the team (where presumably he and LeBron will discuss how freaking fun it is to piss off Clevelanders) — all on the Heat's dime.

Bellamy posted on his Facebook wall today that he's off to South Beach this weekend and had this to say to me in a message: "yeah, its a night named after me get to meet the team, all expenses are paid for!! Cant wait super excited"

I've got a message out to the Heat's media relations department to confirm and see what else the team is bestowing upon Bellamy this weekend and why they are rewarding this jackass. I'll let you know what they have to say.
