Kings of Leon Continue to Prove They're Huge Assholes

Posted by Michael Gallucci on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 8:00 AM

Wed poop on them too
  • We'd poop on them too

After walking offstage during a concert last month after being hit with pigeon poop, major douchebags Kings of Leon continue to fight for the title of Music's Biggest Assholes.

The latest bid by the Southern rockers (who'll tell you time and time again about how they were raised in a strict religious household that forbid rock & roll ... which goes to prove that parenting like that spawns serial killers and dickheads 85 percent of the time) rockets them to the top of the list: They've refused to let Glee use their music.

I'm not defending Glee. I've never seen the show. I've seen the video from the show's premiere where the kids sing "Don't Stop Believin'." And I've heard a couple of the soundtrack albums. And I have a minor crush on the one girl (you know the one — the one from the Rolling Stone cover). Other than that, my interest in Glee is pretty minimal.

The Kings of Leon getting all pretentious and protective of their music is so 1995. There's no such thing as selling out anymore.

I'm just trying to figure this out: So it's OK to go from bumbling country boys who never heard a Rolling Stones song before (or so they say — I never bought their back story) to start hanging out with models and partying like Guns N' Roses, but it's not OK to license a couple of your songs to a TV show that seems to have its heart in the right place? Those birds that shit on the band had the right idea.

Even Coldplay, who wouldn't let Glee use their music either, quickly changed their mind and apologized. Apologized for being dicks. And it's not too long ago that Coldplay was on the top of that asshole list. But they don't have to worry about defending that title anymore. The Kings of Leon have got them way beat. —Michael Gallucci

wtf!so you don't like the fact they won't let a crappy tv show that butchers great tunes play their tune but i don't think that gives you the right to call them dick's or douchebags or assholes.i'm a freakin atheist but i will quote the bible here. "let he without sin cast the first stone".so unless you're jesus, get a grip mate.unless you know them personally and have had a PERSONAL,with emphasis on the word personal here, run in with them shut up and stop judging them.any self respecting artist would NOT let glee use their work.get over it.and any hygienic person wouldn't stand for birds crapping on them either.

I just read another story about this that included the tidbit that KOL let Gossip Girl use a couple of their songs last season. So its cool to sell out to Gossip Girl, but not Glee? Whatever. I don't like them anyway, so I don't much care if their crappy music is on Glee or not.

I saw KOL open for U2 in 2005 and they were dead boring. So what did KOL do? they started writing songs that sound like U2 and you idiots fell for it.I can't believe these over-rated talentless fops got a head line gig at Blossom but then so did Creed.maybe they can tour together some day and call it the suck ass tour.just keeping it real.

ehhhh... I don't see how this makes them "dicks." Especially since that show would most likely use one of their two biggest hits, or both.. linked together in a terrible montage. I don't blame them for not wanting to be associated with that show, especially since they probably hate their two "best" songs off of their newest record that would have been used.

This Just In! Stop the presses. KOL are assholes. Yeah Yeah Yeah's are smelly. Pavement has cooties.
Whose the real d-bag here? Let's ask the fucking loser.
Mike, whose the real d-bag here?
I'll give you a hint.
IT'S U MUTHA FUCKA. YOU ARE THE real D-BAG.
Don't believe me?
it's not only possible. it's the god's honest truth. You're articles are boring, your writing is garbage. It makes me want to stand on the roof tops calling out "O thank god that there is yet another jaded psuedo-intellectual white hipster judging people he's never even met. We are all saved"
Q: What have you ever done that makes you so fucking great? What do you do, MIKE?
Let's get to judging you, MIKE. You STINK. YOU're a big, fat, stinky, stinker and you stink, stink STINK!!! We haven't met, but I just know you stink stink stink. and you'll never ever be cool like me. fuck glee, it's their shit what do you care who they sell it to?
please change careers because your takes are about as original as last night's donkey show in TJ.

I also agree with you Mike. The morons who went off on you can stay in the KOL Klub. All the pretentious EMO shit is just boring. What KOL need to do is grow the fuck up first and honor their commitments, take a shower second (that's not a metaphor for anything deep. they're actually grimy and need to bathe) You wouldn't see Merle Haggard or Ted Nugent or just about anyone else canceling a concert because of pigeon shit. Hell, Merle and Ted would blast them out of the rafters with a shotgun and be done with it. So grow the fuck up boys - this is show business, and the show must go on.

Honestly. I don't see why on earth anybody should give their songs away for being violated by Glee. See what they've done with Journey's anthem. And I'd be thrilled what you'd do when being hit by pidgeon's poo whilst playing live on stage. Just stand there, carry on and pretend nothing's happening while shit is trickling out of you hair? Sure.
Aaand of course you as a perfect investigative journalist know, that Kings of Leon lied when they told about their past. You've probably never asked them, have you? Just go back to wherever you came from and accept that you are not important. It's better that way. For all of us.

If you take a look a Gossip Girl their music is amazing and they do not just have big name artists on that show. Glee on the other hand only seem to do big name artists. KOL just didn't want to be one of them whats so wrong with that. Glee is also such a bad show I can't even put it into words. To be offended that a band will not let you use their music on a t.v show seem like a bad excuse to trash talk a band. So get over your ego and just suck it up. Their are a lot of other bands out their that would gladly put their music on a crappy show.
p.s go play in bird shit KOL haters.
