10 Things Going on in Cleveland this Weekend (February 14 – 16)

Last year was a solid year for heartland rocker Michael Stanley. The guy self-released his new album, The Ride, which came on the heels of last year's The Hang, an introspective album he's referred to as his darkest release yet. The Ride presents a much more positive perspective, something that's reflected in Stanley's more regular live appearances (last year, he held down a four-night stand at the Tangier). Expect to hear MSB favs as well as a good sampling of Stanley's solo material. Regional favorite Donnie Iris (best know for his hit "Ah! Leah!" from his 1980 album Back on the Streets) shares the bill. (Jeff Niesel)

When filmmaker Jason DaSilva is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he decides to make a movie about his attempts to deal with the illness. The resulting film, When I Walk, was a big hit last year at Sundance. While it's difficult to watch Jason battle the illness, he falls in love during the course of the making of the movie and you can't help but hope that his illness stabilizes so he can continue living. The film screens tonight at 7 at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)

With plans to show Cleveland the same love they've gotten from the city over the years, Red Wanting Blue will post up at the House of Blues for a two-night stand this weekend. And for those who've forgotten, Friday (the first night of the run) is Valentine's Day. The promise of romance among the audience is keen. They take the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are $17 - $20. The annual Chili Bowl Classic 5K provides a great relief from the winter malaise. The race, which begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Tremont, is more than just a running event. Entrants receive a long sleeve T-shirt and a post-race sample of chili. The bar inside the church will be serving up cheap suds after the race. It costs $20 ($25 on race day) to run, but you can buy a spectator pass for $5. Amy Schumer looks like a nice Midwestern girl: in her words, "like I just milked something." But the New York City comic is anything but. Her stories always start out nice enough, but the hilarious twists the tales take land perfectly. Her casual delivery eases audiences into her surreal perspective on her love life, family and other everyday events. In support of the new season of her Comedy Central show, Inside Amy Schumer, she's bringing her Back Door Tour to the State Theatre tonight at 8. Tickets are $37.50 to $45. (Stoops)

Pegged as Cleveland's flagship outdoor arts and music festival, the fifth annual Brite Winter Fest promises to be as fun and carefree as in years past. "This is the story of three violent and demanding loves," says the narrator in the trailer for Humoresque, a 1947 film that stars Joan Crawford, John Garfield and Oscar Levant. Designed to complement the Cleveland Museum of Art's Masters of the Violin concerts, the movie centers on a young violinist who tries to strike up a relationship with a much wealthier woman. Violin master Isaac Stern can be heard on the soundtrack. A restored 35mm print of the film shows at the Cleveland Museum of Art today at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)

The soulful Motown recording artist KEM brings his velvet pipes to the State Theatre tonight at 7:30. His popular albums like Intimacy: Album III, earned him several nominations including the Grammy's Best R&B Male Performance. In this one-of-a-kind concert, his All About Love Valentines Show will move you to bring that special someone along and get down with the reason for the season. Chrisette Michele will bring her soulful tunes to warm you up. The performance starts tonight at 7:30 at the State Theatre.
