15 Things Going on in Cleveland Over Thanksgiving Weekend

The weather should be nice and chilly this morning. But with any luck, the collective heat of Clevelanders’ bodies huddled together, jogging through downtown will keep the blood circulating through your extremities. It’s the annual Turkey Trot, folks! Five miles of scenic downtown Cleveland and wind in your face and the knowledge of meat and corn and potatoes and gravy guiding you toward the finish line. It’s the 32nd installment of the annual race, and is always a nice way to work off some calories prior to your feasting later in the day. Registration at City Hall starts at 7:30 a.m. Gun goes off for the five-mile race at 9:30. Online registration is $25. (Sam Allard)

Head on over to the Agora tonight for the original turkey jam and Mr. Ross's famous talent show, featuring Joe Little of The Famous Rude Boys, Kinsman Dazz Band, CA$H, Odyssey, Scott & Raven, Sherena Wynn, The Tra La Las, and others. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the Red Carpet event and the concert starts at 7 p.m.

When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum opens today at 10 a.m., visitors will get their first chance to see A New Side of Elvis, a new exhibit devoted to rock icon Elvis Presley. Located in the Ahmet Ertegun Main Exhibit Hall, the exhibit centers on Elvis’ Army career, the 1968 television comeback special and his appearances in Lake Tahoe. Presley’s Graceland has loaned the Rock Hall more than 40 items for the exhibit. Key items in the collection include the following: a 1975 custom made SuperTrike motorcycle, a selection of his personal jewelry and a new film created expressly for the exhibit. Now receiving help from their extended family, the irreverent family sings songs while reliving their favorite Christmas memories. A hilarious variety of song and dance numbers and Christmas pageantry mixed with booze, fairies and "holiday cheer" will make your heart grow three sizes tonight. One of Cleveland's only outdoor ice-skating rinks, the free ice rink at Wade Oval opens today at noon. There will be concerts, movie nights and Skate with Santa on Wednesdays throughout the month of December. After you’ve finished skating, enjoy discounted admission to other University Circle attractions by showing your Wade Oval Rink wristband. The rink remains open until March 17. (Rus)

A new season of the Tannenbaum Wine Trail, a self-driving tour along dozens of northeast Ohio wineries, kicks off today at noon and continues through Dec. 14. Spend your afternoon sampling a wide array of beverages and appetizers at some of the region's finest wineries, including Buccia Vineyard, M Cellars, St. Joseph Vineyards, and the like. At your first stop, you'll receive a complimentary 18-inch lighted holiday tree, and at each of your following stops, you'll collect one-of-kind holiday ornaments. Since you are providing your own ride home, the winery tour stops at 6 p.m. or whenever you've had your fill. The Greater Cleveland Aquarium will be transformed into a sea-themed winter wonderland this holiday season. Icy decorations will adorn the exhibits, and Scuba Claus will be in town. This year, Scuba Claus will wear a diver communication mask, so he can talk to guests from inside the exhibits. Children will be able to gather for Scuba Claus’ 'Tis the Season story time, where they can listen to him read a story from inside the Shark SeaTube exhibit. Other attractions include the Discovery Zone, which will be transformed into an ice palace complete with a daily snowfall and elves. There will also be special events held throughout the season. It all kicks off today when the aquarium opens at 10 a.m. Winter Waterland continues through Jan. 5. Regular admission prices ($19.95 for adults and $13.95 for children) apply. (Rus)

If you're looking for a holiday activity that perhaps doesn't have to do with eating, try checking out the Cleveland Museum of Natural History for the annual Ice Age exhibit, an event that's touted to be of "Prehistoric Proportions." Beginning today and continuing through Jan. 5, families can enjoy a vast array of winter wonderland activities, including ice sculpting, live animal shows, unique photo opportunities and a special kids-only holiday shop.
