Re: “The Greek Village

As a fellow Greek, and one who goes to Greece often, I have to say thank you for opening this place up. Long overdue and much needed. This place has some of the best Greek food I've had here in Ohio, and without saying, the best gyros around. And the topper is that he actually makes the authentic Greek gyro with pork. Only in Greece can you find this, and he has brought it here. I give the owner Tommy props for opening a place like this up, and keeping it authentic all the way. Also one last thanks for opening up late on the weekends til 3 am cause I always need a gyro after a long night out. Keep up the great work. OPA !!

Re: “Brasa Grill

I wanted to share the absolutely HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE treatment that I received earlier today at Brasa Grill. Perhaps the all time worst customer service that I have ever received at any business of any kind.

I drove about 30 miles into Cleveland to use my Groupon that I purchased for this restaurant. $40.00 in dining purchased for $20.00. Now let it be known that I have worked in the Daily De...al world since Groupon only had 12 cities active. After reviewing all of the “Fine Print”, I made a reservation for one through Open Table since the restaurant has no one answering the phone during the day. I sent an email through their web site letting the restaurant know that I would be dining with the use of my purchased Groupon. Again no one to answer the phone!

When I walked into the restaurant I was told by the host that he did not think that I could use my Groupon. I asked why and he said he would get the manager. A young lady came out and told me that I could not use the Groupon because I was “dining alone”. She said that there had to be another guest “paying for their meal” and they “couldn’t just honor the Groupon with no one else buying anything”! WHAT?!?!?!?!?! Then she blamed it on Groupon for not putting it in the deal?!?!?!

Nowhere on the Groupon, not in the description of the deal, nor in the “Fine Print”, did it state that was the how the deal was structured. I specifically asked this manager to show me on the Groupon where it said that or anything that even sorta’, kinda’ hinted at that. She said “it doesn’t say that”. So again I stated “then you need to honor this Groupon that I purchased and drove almost an hour to use”. It’s actually the law according to Ohio statute regarding couponing.

Now I have never been to this restaurant and was excited to try all of the steak that they are famous for. Perhaps I may have come back with a bunch of friends after a positive experience but they in stead chose to save $20.00 by sending me away. What this ignorant or poorly trained manager failed to realize is the fact that I own three different businesses and work in the Social Network world. Through Facebook alone I have access to over 50,000 people. Did she actually believe I’d just go away?

So I called Groupon Customer Service. The CS rep was STUNNED by Brasa’s handling of this. He looked up the deal and said there is absolutely no reason for them to have treated me the way that they did and absolutely should have honored the Groupon.

So if you are looking to be treated as though a restaurant has absolutely no interest in creating a relationship with you and converting you to a repeat customer then Brasa IS the place for you. But if you are like any normal person and EXPECT to be treated with respect and as though your repeat business is desired then stay as far away from this restaurant as possible.
Kenny Gilder A very unsatisfied (well I can’t really say customer or diner since they sent me away) Person

Re: “Angelo's Pizza

It's no accident that Angelo's is consistently listed as "the best" pizza in some poll or another. The pizza is as good as advertised, often better; and the crust is to die for. Try the deep dish style crust, you won't be sorry. Truth is, I don't even like what usually passes for pizza in Northeast Ohio. I routinely--about four times a month-- make the trek from Shaker Heights to Lakewood whenever I get a pizza jones. Actually, just about everything's good here: wings, salads, sandwiches, and the few non-pizza entrees I've tried have all been excellent. Service is attentive and courteous. There's usually a crowd, but it moves quickly.

Re: “Peppermill Pub and Grill

Good music, average food, similar to Denny's, probably about the very worst service I've had in my life. We spent over $100 for 2 people and we couldn't even get anybody to stop over and ask if we wanted a refill on the water. We made reservations several days in advance and they gave us the worst seats in the house even though it was basically empty when we got there. We asked if we could move and the server said I'll see what I can do but never did anything even though there continued to be empty tables and people wondered in with drinks and just sat down in the better seats.
We were there on New Year's Eve by the way. Right before midnight the server was bringing everybody champagne and she said "Does anybody need champagne?" and I said "We do" and she said "You'll have to go to the bar and get it."
I was ready to cry when we left. I don't know what we ever did to them except go in and spend our money. We even left a 20% tip.
I would never, ever, ever go back.

Re: “Brennan's Colony

Classic "neighborhood bar" with fantastic food. I go there all the time and I never get bored with the specials, or the standard fare. Great soups - best wedding soup I've ever had -and you feel like your having dinner with family. Rockin patio fyi, fantastic for OSU and Browns games in the fall with the heaters going full blast.

Re: “Liminis Theatre

Great Black Box theater on Scranton in Tremont. Just down the street from the Tremont Tap House. You can't beat the proximity to the stage and the concon fare is ribald, risque and loves to explore boundaries--psychological, moral, intellectual, and physical. Regularly at top theater in the annual review of theaters done locally, including those by Scene, Rave and Pan, etc. If you've never been, get over and check it out. If you have, go again soon!

Re: “The Bier Haus

This is a terrific local eatery! More like something you would see in NY city than Ohio. Family run, mom waits tables, dad tends the bar, son is the head chef and other family members fill in. The food is so ingenious. It is served so beautifully; the presentation looks like works of art. The tastes are a wonderful blend of European and American. Be sure to talk with the mom and dad, they are wonderful people, so proud of their son. I wish I could remember their names but I do know the son, the head chef, graduated from culinary school and worked at other fancy places before that dad got a hold of this location in Strongsville. The food is unique compared to most other same old restaurants in the area and they have an interesting list of imported beer.
Hey, it's a first time family run restaurant. They've come a long way and I have no doubt they will be on the best of lists soon. Quit going to the chain gang eaterys and try something original for a change.

Any not so perfect reviews you may of heard before are most likely from their start up days. Hey, it's a first time family run restaurant. Have been a repeat customer to Triggers and haven't once been disappointed. They have a unique environment combining good drinks and treats with a comfy spot to watch TV and hangout on your laptop. Highly recommend!

Re: “Mullarkey's Irish Pub

Went in to get a few drinks on a Saturday night. My brother ordered 3 shots of Washington Apples. We recieved maybe 1.5 shots total after the bar tender walked around and socialized for 5 minutes before making the drinks. When I asked the bar tender if it was half shot night, I was mocked and given a lesson on how to bar tend. I will never visit this hole again. What a worthless place, I don't know how it stays in business.

Congenial, intimate atmosphere. Great bartenders. Very possibly the best burgers and other bar food I've ever had.
