Need to add "Tour Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens"
Having grown up in Cleveland and moved away in 1967, visiting every summer to see the Tribe and Rock Hall, this list made me very nostalgic. Think I'll extend my stay to a week in 2014! Great feature.
I worked with George at the Beach Club in the Flats on the east bank for years and again at the Hustler Club briefly. He's one of the nicest guys you could know and would give the shirt off his back even if it meant he would freeze himself. Truly a gentleman, and of course a legend.
Look at the Cuyahoga ESC salaries, staff and vendors.
Very well written. I love reading these articles about our city. Makes me see this very complicated place from every angle. I enjoy hearing about the more glamorous, if you will, side of Cleveland in its heyday. I so do hope it will sparkle once more.
Same! Great article just a tad bit lengthy.
Moved here from Los Angeles in March 2005. Have no desire to move back. LA feels like a big ugly suburb.
I always get why the F*** did you move here, from Arizona. I have a lot of family that in Az that still ask me that. Honestly, in Feb. I ask myself that. However, I've begun to live the urban edge of this city. I love the cultural aspects such as Playhouse Sq. I love University Circle. I like how Cle has many NYC or northeastern flare despite being considered Midwest. As I spin out on my way to teach in a 1920's CMSD school that still has the original flooring and fixtures, I realize I'm a worl away from the Sonoran desert I grew up in and a lifetime away from the Wildcats at The University of Az where I went to college and my husband played football for. Then I realize I'm perfectly at home here on the Gold Coast, or North Coast, whatever nickname you wish. Cleveland embraced us over a decade ago and it's part of my DNA today:)

You've neglected to mention the awesome party the band Ekoostik Hookah is hosting at the Cleveland Agora ! Carlos Jones & the P.L.U.S. Band open the night @8 pm, and for those who aren't ready to call it a night when the bar shouts "Last Call!", young bluegrass/jamband Blue Moon Soup will continue the party until 4 a.m. ! Psychedelic light show by SOLAR FIRE, food vendors, and the annual countdown blast !
All ages are welcome.
I'm a transplant from the Deep South and I ♥ Cleveland. My favorite part? That I'm considered so polite here!
Cleveland really is a wonderful, big and old industrial city on the Great Lakes and with salt of the earth people.
Cleveland Scene just blows me away with the quality of their reporting. Thanks again for being such a terrific source of in-depth news.
Great list! I will say in regards to #50, I have had a boss that told a coworker who couldn't get out of their driveway because of all of the snow to call a cab... No joke.
All I can say as a long time picker / vendor / dealer in this town is this: They all deserve one another. They are all manipulators, thieves and liars in some degree. When you sleep with whores you get *&^%ed.
Karma, I love it.
And the Medina Chocolate Fest will most likely occur the 1st of Feb, not the 2nd.
Dan, as I write this, you have left the building, but your spirit will remain with all who you touched. The first time I met you, it was at Century in the Ritz at Tower City. I was with Chris, Mike&Alyson and I recall you making me laugh within seconds! Though our time together was short, I remember you just being a delightful happy go lucky guy with the World on a string. I believe that there is a heaven and one day I hope I get there, but for now since I know that you are there, could you pour my Mom a Bacardi and Coke? She's been there for 26 years now and has been waiting for a bartender like you. :)
Hellz yeah bitches! Take that L.A.!
