Never understood the hype with that stupid book
Always glad to see the local arts scene still alive and well
Don't mess with Texas?
Like a modern day Don Quixote?
How the Eff do you misdiagnose a stroke????
Karamu House is still a great venue for local arts....
Sounds like a similiar vein akin to Urban Exploration
That's an interesting twist....
I'm not sure what performance of Six Degrees of Separation Ms. Howey saw, but the one I saw was nothing like this review. I found it to be well executed and moving, with all the actors convincing in their roles. This production is a deeply insightful critique of class, interpersonal relationships, and social responsibility. By reversing the casting, Oatman drives home the point that the narcissistic pursuit of personal pleasure has deep ramifications, and that the social indifference that results from such narcissism is morally reprehensible. Perhaps Ms. Howey needs to reacquaint herself with the use of hyperbole to make a point, perhaps she lacks the creative flexibility necessary to truly understand how the director transitioned a period piece into contemporary social critique, or perhaps she simply had a headache when she attended this play.
