You say this as if there haven't been amazing BBQ spots in our city's Black community for DECADES...

Re: “Cleveland Finally Landed a Great Barbecue Joint. We're Talking About Proper Pig in Lakewood, of Course

The point is that there IS and has ALWAYS been "great barbecue joints" in Cleveland. So this article and its headline is insulting to the numerous inner city "joints" that have catered to and thrived without any recognition. The title of your article should say "Lakewood finally lands". This does not even look like your typical Barbecue plate. A ball of potato salad? Please!

You can't compare the two. One is BBQ for the real people and the other is pretentiousness extraordinaire. "Celebrity Chef" has gone to Michael Symon's head. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy! He's a great chef and has a great personality. And he's certainly an awesome ambassador for Cleveland, but he's kinda gotten out of touch with the reality of Cleveland.

Let's not forget far east side has Smoke BBQ Grill. They do Brisket, Pulled Pork, Smoked half Chickens and Baby Back Ribs. A smoked to perfection.

"Cleveland Finally Landed a Great Barbecue Joint." Damn, throwing shade at BubbaQ's like that is not nice, Scene. Do they not count because they're in Lorain County?

What about Rib Cage in Cleveland Heights? The damn place inspired Mables BBQ to existence when Symon & Ruehlman ate there. Haven't seen one story on the success of Rib Cage in Cleveland Scene.
Cleveland Scene is always blowing the Westside like a prostitute. The East Side does exist...

Re: “Pastina Marries Farm-to-Table Cuisine with Italian-American Standbys

Sometimes fresh pasta is not the answer. The South of Italy uses mostly dried pasta and certain sauces don't pair with fresh pasta. Fresh pastas are better with butter, cream and delicate sauces, whereas dried pasta goes with tomato sauce, olive oil and such.

Re: “Steven's Chicken is Grilling Up Some of the Best Chicken Around (and Dishing Up Central American Staples)

The one thing I've missed most since moving to Cleveland from DC is Peruvian chicken. This place sounds almost exactly like those ubiquitous shops in the District and Virginia. Can't wait to give it a shot.

Re: “The 5 Dishes That Made Me: Johnny Schulze, Chef at Bourbon Street Barrel Room and Owner of Zydeco Bistro

I eat here all the time. Its by far the best restaurant to eat at in Cleveland. The staff works hard and fast and the food is out of this world. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good time and great eats!!!

Re: “The 5 Dishes That Made Me: Johnny Schulze, Chef at Bourbon Street Barrel Room and Owner of Zydeco Bistro

Chef Johnny's food measures right up there with the most popular chefs in New Orleans. It is uniquely New Orleans, and at the same time uniquely his own. Sitting in the BSBR you'd swear you were in New Orleans by the food alone. Zydeco Bistro sells out everywhere it goes. I'd move to New Orleans if I could, but since 2000 I don't have to because we have Johnny's faithful creations.

Re: “A Chagrin Falls Grad Comes Home to Turn the Former Dink's Space Into a Family Friendly Diner

I can't wait to try this place! I spent my 20's in Chagrin Falls and DInk's was the place for all of us to gather for breakfast or lunch. (We usually didn't make breakfast. LOL!)

Re: “Tandul, Tremont's First Indian Restaurant, Is Off To a Great Start

Been here a few times. Food is excellent....if it ever shows up at your table! They need to hire a front of house manager. They are newcomers who don't understand how to run a restaurant. Staff isn't trained. Although owner is a very nice guy, their service is executed miserably. Tandul - a great test of patience.
