I have never understood why/how so many people idolize other humans. What a pathetic topic to have such strong opinionizing about........get a real life...please?
you're right, Evan, Clevelanders are such assholes for demanding a decent product. we should be happy to spend $20 on whatever someone plops in front of us, because at least we have it!
maybe you should log offline and get back to your job at the aquarium.
This self-entitlement with Clevelanders is getting out of hand. I saw the Eiffel Tower in Paris; how dare Cleveland not have one just like it!
Really, there's still a grass roots effort in Cleveland for a serious destination aquarium. The one at the Powerhouse in the Flats is purposely boutiqe-scaled attraction, privately owned, without an endowment or government subsidy -- either of which would simply evoke more wrath of never-happy Clevelanders.
You want a better one? Go out and start working on it. Anyone can complain, and there's nothing profound or useful of bragging about seeing something bigger.
I went to the aquarium earlier this year and was completely disappointed in it. I am a salt water enthusiast and when traveling, if there is a aquarium around, I go to it. Cleveland is the third worst I have been to only to be topped by the National Aquarium in DC and the Honolulu Aquarium. I spent 25 minutes in Cleveland and that was with a 5 minute break. There is NOT one single REAL coral in any of the salt water tanks and being open only a few months some of the paint from the fake coral was all ready pealing off. I asked a employee about the fake corals and her response was"you have a good eye". Of course I do. I had reef tanks in my house and grew up with family members that raised salt water fish and donated them to the old Cleveland Aquarium. I actually know a bit about them. This aquarium is way to small and they don't use the small space they have in the correct manner. I have been to Monterey and the Georgia Aquariums which you can't compare to Cleveland's. Go to The Newport Aquarium near Cincinnati if you want to experience a FANTASTIC small scale aquarium. It is in the top three for me. Monterey and Georgia's are the best in the US.
Everything in moderation, people.
The "i'll pay attention when there's sex" comment gave me quite a chuckle.
There's always going to be a chance for unruly people starting trouble. If you're ready for it though, or you just call for assistance from neighboring communities, then I would think the police would be able to handle it. Isn't this why they have the power to arrest people?
Yeah, I have no idea how there are not lawyers buzzing all over this person's house, seems like she has a slam dunk case for a big 'ol lawsuit. Someone's gonna get PAID!!!
Rovers Morning Glory...Mean and stupid shouldn't be aired or settting off fireworks drunk...
I hesitated before I posted that one because I thought people would be all pissed off and think I was trying to mock lakewood. I'm glad everyone seemed to appreciate the humor in those extra rules though. They gave me a chuckle.
Growth is good. Yes, you have to let go of some things that you'll fondly talk about years from now, but the development in this area has been fantastic for the most part. This is just one of the things that is helping to put Cleveland back on the map and move our reputation away from Detroit-land lows.
Wow, this is just a complete train wreck. This is another one I'm going to have to look up and give a read to.
The number of people that were rocking pissed about the kitten shooting was surprising. Even more surprising was the number of people that would have committed violence against this guy because of what he did. It's sad, though, because it really seems like some people care a lot more for animals than they do for their fellow human beings. Very sad, actually.
I think we're beating a dead horse with the whole Captain America 2 thing at this point. Yes, I say this knowing full well that I just commented on a story about that about 30 seconds ago.
This whole Captain America 2 thing really did not do wonders for Clevelanders wanting more movies to come to town and film. I mean, people will put up with irritation and inconvenience to help the city, but when the amount we actually gain is tiny, then it just doesn't seem worth it and people get pissed.
Now I'm going to have to see what this question #15 is all about.
Woo hoo! I made the cut! Look, I was a bit cranky when I wrote that one, and just sick and tired of people coming into Cleveland and using us as a stepping stone to their next big paycheck or gig.
I can't tell you how annoyed I was with the whole Hafner situation, the guy plays hard and starts hitting 28-42 home runs per season. So we lock him up with a big 'ol contract extension in 2007, and he finishes with 24 homers for the year. Then, once he's been paid, what does he do? Hits home run totals of 5, 16, 13, 13, and 12. So being as he sucked, we cut the cord and let him walk as a free agent to the Yankees. Well, the only problem is, Hafner wants to get paid again, so he starts trying again and got off to a hot start. Sure, he's cooled off for now, but his HR numbers are still better than anything we got in the past once we handed him the big paycheck.
So what does Hafner have to do with Fitzy? He worked really hard until we gave him the big paycheck in the form of a big promotion from mayor of lakewood to county commissioner. He wants to use this as the ultimate stepping stone to become governor, and that's about all he seems to care about as this point. Heck, I would venture to say the only reason he took the commissioner job in the first place was because he knew it was a nice, gradual step on his way to the governor's mansion. And that irritates me. Get into Cleveland politics because you want to help the city, or guide it's turnaround, or because you care about Cleveland or love it. Don't get into it just so you can bail and move on to something else. It's the whole LeBron thing all over again, another guy wants to leave Cleveland to move south for seemingly greener pastures.
YES!!! Another shout out! Alright, I can die happy now.
