Re: “Ryan Bingham

It really must be a big mistake the Willie Nelson label, along with Ryan Adams sought to sign this young man. Not to mention his tour dates with Drive By Truckers, rave reviews and much hard earned lessons in school of hard knocks. Is this music not pop country enough for those who control what passes for country & western these days? Stripped down and dirty, just like Texas Outlaw tradition. Sorry if you don't see the light. Your loss.

Re: “Ryan Bingham

I strongly disagree with this writer "connoisseur". This is the best album, songs, and song writer to come along, in a long time. There is a Ryan Bingham "craze". All the major alternative-country, Texas Country artists have joined together to help get this guy started -- why? Because he is incredible -- the voice -- the stories! He needs to be heard. Mescalito is his 3rd album. The other 2 were self-produced. There's a reason Marc Ford (former lead guitarist for The Black Crowes) produced & played on this album. And, there's a reason Marc Ford's incredible son, Elijah is now Ryan Bingham's bassist. They know something you fail to see. Good luck! Kat

Re: “Betty

We did this album in one evening on borrowed studio time. It took a week of editing and a buddy to shoot the cover. We had a ball with it. None of us became pros. All have lived normal and great lives. All are not in late 50's. What a way to pass into manhood----. Good luck to all you aspiring music makers.

Please consider becoming a member of The Judy Garland Experience, the worlds largest Judy Garland group! Our membership includes Garland family members and friends, Judy’s co-workers, authors, film makers, other celebrities, and the most eclectic collection of Judy fans anywhere. The only one missing is you! Every week we post new ultra rare Judy files. This week, along with rehearsal and broadcast performances we are featuring Judy’s complete concert at Orchestra Hall, her performance at The Night Of 100 Stars, a snarky performance at a private party, and other rare and unrleased recordings. We also have rare recordings by Judy’s friends and co-workers (this week there is a 1994 all star tribute to Miss Peggy Lee posted. The tribute took place at the Beverly Hilton and features live performance by Ruth Brown, Jow Williams, Rosemary Clooney, K.D. Lang, The Manhattan Tranfer, and others). The group also has an amazing photo collection featuring hundreds of never before seen images of Judy (many taken by our members). The group also features lively discussions on a wide variety of subjects. Please stop by our little Judyville and check it out, you may never want to leave! http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/thejudygarlandexperience/

Re: “Jay-Z

FIRST OF ALL YOU ARE ABLE TO WRITE BECAUSE THSI MAN HAS A CAREER. WHEN HE NEEDS YOUR WHO GIVES A FUCK WHAT YOU THINK OPINION HE WILL ASK OR GIVE IT TO YOUR RETARDED ASS ANYWAY. HE CAN RAP CIRCLES AROUND YOUR ASS AND I THINK THAT IS WHY YOU WANT TO BASH HIM. DON'T HATE CONGRATULATE. FURTHER MORE IF HE IS SUCH A HORRIBLE RAPPER AS YOU CLAIM THEN YOU SHOULD STILL BE GIVING HIM HIS PROPS BECAUSE HE HAS FOOLED MILLIONS OF PEOPLE OVER AND OVER. I KNOW YOU CAN'T FATHOM THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT HE HAS SEEING AS HOW YOU PROBABLY MAKE $50, 000 OR LESS A YEAR BUT JEALOUSY IS VERY UNBECOMING. HOVA IS DA GOD AND REALLY TO COMPARE ANY OTHER RAPPER TO HIM IS DISGRACEFUL. ALWAYAS REMEMBER WHAT YOU EAT DON'T MAKE HIM SHIT THE SOONER YOU GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD THE SOONER YOU WANT WASTE PAPER, INK AND TIME WRITING THIS SLANDEROUS SHIT. DIG A HOLE DIG HOLE GO HEAD AND BURY YA SELF. CLOWN!!!!!

Re: “Bruce Springsteen

"zero songs about the fretting mothers of soldiers who are fighting in Iraq". . . "upbeat tracks about a "Gypsy Biker" You're obviously and laughably ignorant. Glad to see this is already posted on Backstreets for the amusement of all.

Re: “Bruce Springsteen

It would be nice if Michael Galucci actually listened to the music he reviews.

Re: “Sage Francis

I have to disagree completely. I think Sage offers a far more literary approach to the music than other artists which you might prefer, and where you consider his lyrics to fall flat, I consider them to be masterfully crafted words for simple concepts. "Got Up This Morning" for instance is just him fucking some crazy English Major. The point however, is that he is able to describe for all of us some of the emotions experienced when in a situation like that. And I personally believe the opposite of your comment about social discourse.

Re: “Prince

THIS IS PROOF POSITIVE TO WHAT I THOUGHT YEARS AGO. WHOMEVER REALLY WROTE THE LYRICS TO HIS BEST WORK, WAS NOT PRINCE!!! SO WHAT HE PLAYS GUITAR ECT. HE CAN'T WRITE HIS WAY OUT OF A PAPER BAG REALLY. THE INDUSTRY FIGHT -HISSY FIT WAS REALLY A SMART DISTRACTION TO THE TRUTH, ABOUT HIS MANIPULATION OF A SALES COUNT THAT SHOWS, IN FACTS, ACTUAL SALES, MOST OF HIS ALBUMS , AFTER WHOMEVER GAVE HIM THE WORDS LEFT, ALL STINK. HE IS JUST A GREAT CONARTIST. ALWAYS HAS BEEN. I NEVER SAW A MUSICIAN GET AWAY WITH THIS FOR SO LONG AS THIS LOSER, FOR THAT ONLY HE SHOULD GET AN AWARD. AFTER YEARS OF LISTENING IT IS SO OBVIOUS HE CAN'T WRITE. NEVER COULD. HE DID COMPLAIN ALOT HOW THE RECORD COMPANIES RIPPED HIM OFF, BUT, HE NEVER PAID THE ONES WHO REALLY GAVE HIM THE HITS. WE NEVER HEARD FROM THESE PEOPLE AGAIN, BECAUSE HE GOT THEM TO SIGN THAT LITTLE LEGAL FORM, THAT PREVENTS THEM FROM TELLING US ALL THE TRUTH. HES A FAKE, HE DIDN'T MAKE THE WORLD OF MUSIC BETTER, HE RUINED IT FOR FUTURE ARTISTS. HE TOOK AS MUCH AS HE COULD, HE USED EVERYONE HE COULD, EVEN IF ONE OF THOSE POOR GIRLS FLIP THE WRONG WAY WAY SOMEDAY, AND ARE CRIPPLES FOR LIFE, HE WOULDN'T PAY THEIR MEDICAL. HE WOULD BE FAST ON TO THE NEXT ONE TO USE. BLACKHEARTED AND THE WORLD'S BIGGEST FAKER. THE ALBUMS PROVE IT!!! FOR SURE. 3121 BORING STUPID SONG, AND ALL THE REST. IF NOT FOR HIS KEEN MANIPULATION OF THE REAL SALES NUMBERS, WE WOULD HAVE NOTICED LONG AGO. HE HAD TO GIVE IT AWAY, NO ONE WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT, AND THEN HIS FAKERY WOULD HAVE BEEN CAUGHT REDHANDED. AS IT IS HE RAN OUT OF RECORD COMPANIES, HE CLIPPED THEM ALL, IS THE REAL TRUTH, WHATEVER HIS STORY IS.

Re: “Montag

I don't get it. Montag is way more interesting with this new record, more engaging and poppier than his previous stuff... I can't hear any Air in "No One Else" either. The beats are not cheesy: they're mostly real drums which makes the album so much warmer than most electronic music records out there. I really don't think he overdid it with the production, it's really unique sounding... maybe you should listen to it again?

Re: “Smashing Pumpkins

who are you, and what the fuck do you know about the pumpkins past? evidently not much to write a knowledgable review. Machina was a landmark piece of work. Listen to it -- actually, LISTEN to it with HEADPHONES maybe. ZEITGEIST isn't the best SP LP, however it's relevant and viscerally and sonically pleasing.

Re: “Ozzy Osbourne

Dear Sharon. I didn't know where else to write to, so I hope u get this "mail" somehow. I have deep respect for u and all the things u've done for ur family. If I could i'd send u to a holliday with spa, massage (don't know the word for it) with NO ONE ELSE than u. If anyone is rewarded the best title as a MOM, it's U! U've handled it well during all the dramatic ways ur life has lead u. I'm going myself to get my left chest removed and "rebuild" with plastic surgery, cause a "knot" in my chest. The tests didn't show anything, but they'd like to remove it anyway. I can only dream of what thoughts went through your head. I'm a single mom with 2 sons. One of 'em has ADHD and has to get medicin in a gouple of month. I struggle every day to keep the day workin' and I must say U just inspire me. I know the serie is some acting and some for real, but the idea in it is good. U have followed your own kids through hell and back and I would do the same. I am greatfull for having them, dispite our daily arguing. (They are only 5 years and 17 month) I never had a mom to look up to (She's alive, but we've cut "bonds", due a familytragigy she would't accept, She made me choose between my father and her.... U guess the rest)But I look up to you and I hope to be just as strong as you, someday. U have adorable kids and u've turned to look like a butterfly. (I didn't wanna sound crazy or something else...) So now U know... U r my favorite mom and I know I'm not the only one who said this, but it feels great to say it to the person. As my motto says: If U smile to someone, mayby they'll smile back someday. Many summergreetings from Denmark Love: Charlotte Pedesen Tinghøjen 9, Oddense 7860 Spøttrup DENMARK Mail: charlottepedersen_7@hotmail.com (don't expect anyone to write back, but in any case...) Have a nice summer 2 U and UR family.

Re: “Chris Cornell

"But ultimately, it doesn't hold together as an album, because there's no concept beyond "Here's a bunch of songs I wrote" -- plus that bizarre Michael Jackson cover." Why does there have to be a concept for every album? Cornell is so talented and creative he shouldn't have to be pigeon-holed into one type of sound or theme per album. I love the fact that "Carry On" is all over the place. I won't get bored with the same sound or style repeated in 14 tracks. Diversity is a good thing!!! The "bizarre Michael Jackson cover" started out as a joke. You need to see Cornell perform this song live in concert to really appreciate how he takes this pop song and makes it his own. Much in the same vein as Johnny Cash did with Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage". Don't write off "Carry On". Just as his first solo album "Euphoria Morning" was, "Carry On" is a grower. Some of the songs come off very simplistic, at first listen. Each subsequent listen reveals something new. I listen to it quite frequently and have yet to get bored with it.
