Early birds find some of the freshest meats, fruits, and vegetables around here. But that doesn't mean you'll miss out much at all, if you come later in the day. You'll still find plenty of exactly what you're looking for at this Ohio City landmark. The Market can easily be your only source of food shopping, with vendors selling everything from deli cuts to fresh meats, seafood and poultry, fruits and vegetables of all varieties, terrific baked goods, dairy, spices, and specialty ethnic items. If you get hungry, dozens of vendors serve prepared meals ranging from hot dogs to falafel to pierogi. Some vendors accept credit cards and checks, and cash is accepted market-wide.
Another changing of the guard has placed this convenient café inside the West Side Market in good hands. Tom Szoradi, veteran chef and owner of the long-running Juniper Grille, has elevated the quality, consistency, and creativity of this breakfast-and-lunch mainstay. Breakfasts are upscale versions of diner classics; sandwiches consist of house-roasted meats atop artisan-baked breads; and fun starters like sausage-studded Hanky Pankies (cheesy fondue) and tempura-fried shitakes kick-start the meal.
