Julia- I love to be the one to tell you this but Bourbon is "America's" national spirit and can be distilled and bottled anywhere in the US and labled with the name BOURBON as long as it is made from a mash build of 51% corn, Distilled at 160 proof, aged in new charred oak barrels for a minimum of 2 years and then cut with only distilled water and bottled at no less then 80 proof!!!
those are some of the most simple guidelines for Bourbon. its made everywhere from Pennsylvania to Texas and Colorado to Wisconson. get out and enjoy our Nations Spirit. :-)
