I'm not going to mourn the loss of another club where bad sound systems and that groping that passes for dancing is the norm. What drives me absolutely insane about Cleveland and our esteemed leadership's inability to support nightlife is the absolute lack of a real dance club. And afterhours? Forget about it. When was the last time you could dance in this town past 2:30? I can only look at the DJ lineups in cities like LA, New York, Denver, San Fran, Miami -- and Detroit and Pittsburgh for that matter -- so I don't even want to hear that it's about being a big metropolitan area with $$ -- and wince that we have nothing similar here. Does the name "Funktion One" resonate with any of you? what about "Dynacord?" Pathetic. I know lots of people who would love to open a proper club for house / techno / trance / drum and bass / trip hop, but don't out of fear that Clevelanders wouldn't pay a cover charge, the city wouldn't support them, and it would have to go the way of trashy crowds just to fill the place. Keep it classy, Cleveland. Keep it classy.
