The pay is out of line for a public sector executive in the Cleveland area. The director of the National Park Service, who oversees the entire national park system, makes at most $205k...and that is with a DC cost of living, which is much more expensive than Cleveland (think townhouses costing $350K plush in either so so school districts or else 40 plus miles from downtown). Someone previously said that good executives were hard to come by, but I just don't believe that's true. There are plenty of highly intelligent, competent people graduating every year with their MBAs, etc...I think the problem we see if executives being drawn from the same small pool of people.
