For now, non-newsroom employees are affected (advertising, marketing, finance, IT, etc.).…

Nights on the town here in Cleveland can get pretty goddamn rowdy. Simple excursions to the bowels of West 6th Street can end up as depraved, acid-bleached odysseys into the salt mines below Lake Erie.…

Today in "WTF?" it's coming to light that three children were placed by Lorain County Children Services into a home with a registered sex offender.

The Chronicle-Telegram reports on the news, which is being urged into the spotlight by the children's mother, Mayra Valentin.…

The NBA draft is next Thursday, and potential number-one pick Nerlens Noel is hard at work, rehabbing his busted-ass knee. Both his enormous feet and flagship flat-top warrant careful scrutiny here.…

When it comes to eating seafood in Cleveland, the choice often is between a few pricey fish houses or inexpensive (and risky to public health) fast food joints. It's those middle-of-the-road places where you can safely (and affordably) enjoy a platter of fish that are so rare.…

Update: Serena Williams has issued a statement in an attempt to limit the damage from her severely uneducated and ignorant statements quoted in a Rolling Stone article in which she blames the victim of the Steubenville rape.

Here's her moment of, "What I meant to say was...."

"What happened in Steubenville was a real shock for me. I was deeply saddened.…

Over 100 games into this NBA season, who knew that the Miami Heat's least valuable player was LeBron James' headband? Utterly stymied for a full three quarters of Game 6 of the NBA Finals by the Spurs' peculiar defensive tag team of Boris Diaw and Kawhi Leonard, James chucked his headband, flexed his receding hairline and then caught fire, leading Miami back from a 10-point deficit at the end of the third quarter to take the lead late in the fourth.…

At the risk of aligning myself with your neighborhood parson, there's something not-quite-right about watching the revelry and raunchiness of privileged high schoolers. Once kiddies get to college, most of us accept that depravity (or, at the very least, "experimentation") is part of the package.…

There's something jarring about the opening scene of director Joss Whedon's (The Avengers) take on Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, which opens Friday at the Cedar-Lee Theatre. A group of men in business suits emerge from a caravan of limousines to convene in a kitchen and discuss family matters.…

It was 8:45 on a Friday night when our group of five rolled into Sterle's (pronounced STER-lees) Country House for some grub. The host warned us that the kitchen was shutting down in 15 minutes and that there might be some menu items that were no longer available.…

After much trial and tribulation, Ohio Sky finds redemption on its new EP
            by Jeff Niesel
In 2011, local hard rock act Ohio Sky had the opportunity of a lifetime. The band played a showcase for Roadrunner Records, the mammoth label that's home to popular metal acts like Nickelback and Slipknot.…

A free pinball palace? That's super
            by Joseph Clark
ASCENDING THE STAIRS OF THE FORMER AMERICAN Greetings factory at 1300 West 78th Street, you may hear the frenzied clicks of flapping wood paddles and blips and chirps of electronic encouragement. This joyful racket is coming from one of more than a dozen classic arcade machines of Superelectric Pinball Parlor, a living museum of kinetic gaming hosted by local artists Benjamin Haehn, Nathaniel Murray and David Spasic.…

An overview of the Cleveland Museum of Art's eclectic Summer Solstice
            by Jeff Niesel
Tickets to this year's Summer Solstice party/concert at the Cleveland Museum of Art sold out in a hurry. That's just one sign that the festival has become a signature event not just for the museum, but for the city.…

            Willeyville, which opened its doors
last week, is an homage to Cleveland's first mayor John Willey, who dubbed the area Willeyville. The contemporary bistro on the east banks of the Flats marks the return of chef Chris DiLisi, who was opening chef at Flour in Moreland Hills and longtime chef at Baricelli Inn before that.…

Never mind the rust. Young tech companies are hot in Cleveland, where creating a startup has never been easier.
            by Lee Chilcote
It may not be evident yet, but the next hot tech company is being created in Cleveland, a city long known as flyover country by venture capitalists and once rated the worst place in the U.S. for startups on a list penned by some bored intern in New York. This is not just bullshit boosterism churned out by another nonprofit.…
