In response to Abba's post, I thank God were not in 1869, because slavery would still be a sad reality in this country: Though I wouldn't mind the civility of 1869 back in the way that politicians and talking heads relate to each other...While it's true I favor the right, I have a very low opinions of both sides and their pathetic partisan attitudes. Even worse, whether it was the Nixon-run White House or the Obama-led White House, our government does not welcome dissent from its citizens...Which I would contend was probably not as much of an issue in 1869.
