A Cornucopia of Creativity

Local artists show off their skills.

Today’s Art Is Alive outing features lots of pretty paintings you can hang on your wall. But the annual event -- which takes place at the Canton Museum of Art -- also includes music, dancing, and short films. All kinds of art! “There’s nothing like the energy of the art community coming together to share what we love,” says participating painter Kris Wyler. “I just love being around the buzz to build ideas and trends.” @cal body 1:More than 30 local artists will display and sell their wares -- including furniture maker Michael Andlinger, glass blower KC Carter, and quilt fan Wendy Lewis -- as well as photographers, jewelers, and more. Wyler’s acrylic landscapes -- which have titles like “High Tide” and “Gentle Day” -- were inspired by trips to the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. “I’m really able to engage in the challenge of a seascape,” she says. “To make all the characteristics come through on the canvas.”
