A modern-day adaptation of a Shakespearean tragedy, Cymbeline is an action-packed crime thriller that embodies the conflict between love and family obligation. This film features Shakespeare’s original dialogue with present-day filming making it a very unique adaptation like director Michael Almereyda’s previous adaptation of Hamlet. The leader of a biker gang (Ed Harris) fights with his daughter about marrying his protégé (Penn Badgley) behind his back. This leads to many other conflicts and unexpected twists with other characters (like Ethan Hawke) in the plotline. Although the dialogue may be confusing at times, it is a must-see for any Shakespeare fan. It shows tonight at 9:10 p.m. at the Cleveland Cinematheque. Tickets are $9. (Wintucky)
