A Real Wonder

When: Thu., March 13 2014
Terrence Malick, the director with whom the word “elegiac” is most often associated, made To The Wonder in 2013. When the trailers for it came out, it looked a lot like his much-celebrated Tree of Life from 2011. I mean it looked exactly the same — same languid, mobile shots, same prominent usage of water and wind, same tender caresses and breathy, dreamlike voiceovers. Tree of Life was incredible; To the Wonder was critically regarded as less so, but Kurtiss Hare, a film writer based in Akron, called it the best movie of 2013. He’ll introduce the film before its screenings at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque tonight at 6:45 and Saturday at 9:45 p.m. Tickets are $9. (Allard)
