After the Flood

Lake County residents aren't going to let the massive flooding put a damper on the annual Painesville Community Days. The usual Kiwanis Park location turned out to be too damaged to serve as the site of today's fest, so the party moves to Veterans Park this year. All the scheduled events remain on the agenda, including martial-arts demonstrations, magic acts, and live music. Also on tap: plenty of food, a skateboarding competition, and raffles (which go toward fixing some of the city's water-damaged buildings). Says Lee Homyock, director of recreation and public lands, "This will be a celebration in more ways than one."
