All They Need Is Love

As Fab Faux co-founder Will Lee sees it, the Beatles "gave us all a wake-up call" about the turbulent '60s. And he and his four bandmates plan to prove it tonight during their Playhouse Square concert. "They woke us up to fashion. They woke us up to what a few people can do to change the attitudes and styles of many," says Lee, who's also the house bassist on Late Show With David Letterman. "It's taken for granted how many happy accidents they made musically with very little equipment in the studio."While the band looks nothing like John, Paul, George, and Ringo — there's even a fifth core member, along with horn and string sections — it painstakingly duplicates the Fab Four's arrangements note for note. The result draws the same kind of audience reaction in which the Beatles basked during their historic Ed Sullivan Show appearance in 1964. "I like people screaming at me in admiration," laughs Lee. "It's a way better alternative than someone screaming at me to clean my room." Get your Beatles on at 8 tonight at the Ohio Theatre, 1511 Euclid Avenue. Tickets are $40 to $75.
