Batteries Not Invited

Leave your TiVos and Playstation 3s at home if you're going on one of tonight's Holiday Lantern Tours at Hale Farm & Village. That's because the outings are strictly about the electrics-free 19th century. The 90-minute tours — which leave every 20 minutes — take you through the candlelit Wheatfield Village, with actors dressed in Civil War-era finery. "When they leave the visitors' center, they are stepping back in time to the year 1862," says Hale director Brian Reitz. "For a lot of people who attend, it's become a family tradition." Holiday Lantern Tours take off from 6 through 8:20 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Saturday, December 22, at Hale Farm & Village, 2686 Oak Hill Road in Bath. Tickets are $18. Call 330-666-3711 or visit www.wrhs.org.
