Beam Me Up

The Lake Erie Nature & Science Center's planetarium dazzles with rock and roll light-candy for today's debut of its SkyLase full-dome laser show. For the next four Saturdays, the shape-shifting light beams will recreate the history of the constellations. And it'll be choreographed to a musical backdrop of rock classics by Pink Floyd, U2, Mariah Carey, Elton John, Céline Dion, and the Foo Fighters. "There's everything from Elvis playing the guitar to little characters walking and talking during the constellation show. It's really cool," says spokeswoman Shawn Salamone. "With the music, it withstands all the generations, from grandparents to parents and their teenagers." The planetarium lights up at 3 and 8 p.m. on Saturdays, through Saturday, June 21, with 11:30 a.m., 12:30, and 1:30 p.m. matinees from Wednesday, June 11, through Friday, June 13, at the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center, 28728 Wolf Road in Bay Village. Tickets are $3. Call 440-871-2900 or visit www.lensc.org. – Cris Glaser
