Belting It Out

When: Wed., Jan. 22 2014
Two new monthly series begin at the Happy Dog this month. Last week was the first edition of Hot Dog University, a fun attempt to bring “academia to the masses.” (It’s sort of like the “Life, the Universe and Hot Dogs” lecture series, only with a social sciences tilt.) Tonight, though, begins the Belt Out reading series in the Underdog, featuring work from Rust Belt Chic and Belt mag contributors. Tonight’s inaugural session will showcase some of the essay writers from the original anthology, including Becky Cummings, Dana DePew, Christine McBurney and Amanda Schaffer. The reading is free and open to the public, but the purchasing of beer and hot dogs is encouraged to facilitate greater appreciation. This series replaces the erstwhile “Write to Assemble” series, hosted by the now-defunct Ohio City Writers. (Allard)
