West Branch State Park

Located snug in the hollers of Portage County, West Branch State Park is better known as a hunting and fishing paradise than for its miles and miles of smooth, swooping single-track riding. But if you don't mind a few bullets whizzing past you, the trails will give you a great workout as well as a few white-knuckle moments, whether you're an expert or it's your first time on two wheels. If you're a beginner, stay on the side closest to the lake. The trail takes you sailing through thick forests, along the shore of the crystal-clear lake, and across lots of fun, winding bridges, log piles, and a few flat rock gardens. It's such a nice ride that many experts prefer it to the really technical stuff.
