A Million Little Pieces, by James Frey

Frey's jarring memoir details his long and bumpy road to recovery from alcohol and drug addiction, which started early -- he was 10 when he first got drunk in his parents' Cleveland home. By the time he was 15, he added drugs; before long, he was hanging out with hookers and had even assaulted a priest. He spent time in jail. Now he's 33 and sober. Pieces is his harrowing story, told in a jagged style that recalls a shaky comedown from a long high. And if Frey seems a little too self-absorbed at times, just thank God he's the one who lived through this.
