Best Career Move

Bruce Drennan

This is a city loyal to its sports institutions, and Bruce Drennan is as entrenched as any — his trademark rasp has been scraping up local airwaves since 1978, during drive time, dinnertime, and game time. Sure, the feds’ discovery that Drennan was involved in a large illegal gambling ring briefly ended his career; he was pinned for filing bad tax returns and sent to prison last year. But he was back on the air in no time, spreading his loudmouthed opinions on the Tribe, Cavs, and Browns to anyone who would tune in. The gambling charges not only didn’t deter SportsTime Ohio; they inspired the Indians’ TV station, which calls Drennan’s show “All Bets Are Off.”
