Best Coffee Shop for Working on Your Novel

The Root

With views of bustling downtown Lakewood (ignore the Burger King, please) and a bountiful variety of seating arrangements and beverages, the Root Cafe affords the introspective writer an excellent midday getaway. There's enough coffee-shop white noise to keep the mind buzzing while still allowing someone to find a quiet nook for the afternoon. Not only does the place serve some of the best (fair trade) coffee in the area, these cats also have a brilliant organic bakery on site. Try something different, expand your palate, then tuck your nose back into that journal and continue fretting over your near-constant state of writer's block. At the very least, the coffee will keep your mind from imploding over that terrifying blank page before you.
