Best Directorial Debut

Russ Borski, The Late Henry Moss

For decades, Russ Borski has been known for his atmospheric sets, which can suggest anything from a quaint Brigadoon village to a butterfly-drenched Caribbean. In a move of brazen courage, Borski took on one of Sam Shepard's boozy passion plays and gave audiences an evening so loaded with tension and intoxicating decadence that they became drunk by osmosis.
