Best Free Music

City Music

Whether or not you can afford other orchestras' tickets isn't the point. City Music Cleveland deserves a spot on your calendar. The ensemble was founded with accessibility in mind, so all of its concerts are free. And it doesn't matter where you live in Northeast Ohio; there's a pretty good chance it'll be performing in your neighborhood sometime soon. The orchestra is made up mostly of young musicians who recently graduated or are still attending the esteemed Cleveland Institute of Music or Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. Led by James Gaffigan, the Cleveland Orchestra's former assistant conductor, the programs are filled with music that's easy to love, spanning centuries. (216.321.8273, citymusiccleveland.org) Gill
