Charenton Theater

Charenton Theater fulfills its mission of making great theater accessible to as many people as possible by taking the show into the neighborhoods. Given its challenging and nomadic existence, this group still manages to mount compelling productions in uniquely appropriate settings. For example, Spoon River Anthology was played in a variety of local cemeteries, including Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland Heights, and you had to get chills as the characters, all dead, came strolling slowly to the stage from among the headstones. Now under the artistic direction of Jacqi Loewy, Charenton promises to continue giving the lie to the old saw "You get what you pay for." With Charenton, you pay nothing (it's funded through the Ohio Arts Council and donations from other foundations and companies), and you get a memorable theatrical experience.
