Johnny Hot Dogs West Side Market, West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue; 216-696-6834
Touted as Cleveland's oldest hot dog stand, Johnny Hot Dogs has carried on the frankfurter frenzy Mary Trisco started, when she opened for business at the then-new West Side Market in 1912. Four years ago, Vicki Camardo and her brother, Frank Romano, bought the operation from Trisco's son, Johnny, and have kept the business plain and simple: serving handmade, all-beef hot dogs, still in their natural casings. On an average day, they sell 40 pounds of the dogs. Go with the flow and top yours with spicy chili, diced onions, and yellow mustard. Camardo says that's the most-requested combo.
