Best Museum

Cleveland Museum of Art

She just turned 85 years old, but the Cleveland Museum of Art is still a sassy, saucy lady with an eye for the newest and the boldest. We're not just talking about the much-hyped "Marilyn x 100," added in 1996. Director Katharine Lee Reid continues to forge new trails to bolster the museum's modern art collection. Most recently, that has meant 10 new drawings from Jasper Johns and the world-famous Dali painting "The Dream." Yet even with the flashy new acquisitions, the museum stays true to the mission upon which it was founded in 1916: art for the masses. That means the best museum in Cleveland is still gorgeously, completely free. Sometimes the old-fashioned ideas are still the best.
