It's a pretty sad state of affairs when the best columnist in town doesn't even have a column. But a little hurdle like that hasn't stopped Phillip Morris -- that bald guy with the horn-rimmed glasses who pops up on The Plain Dealer's opinion page -- from producing the best stuff of any local opinion writer. Smart, articulate, and more than able to string together a cogent argument, Morris actually challenges readers to think -- something that seems to be missing from some local columnists' job descriptions these days. His August 8 piece connecting public urination and people dying in the Flats was classic. Now, if he could just get some better real estate.
