Best No-Budget Indie Horror Flick

Revival of Darkness:Beyond the Grave

Who knows what evil lurks in the dark heart of Westlake? The vampire/gothic/horror/romance B-movie Revival of Darkness: Beyond the Grave features local musicians, actors, artists and 9-to-5ers who thought it would be fun to make a movie. Now available on DVD, the flick was filmed locally, in various backyards, the Phantasy Concert Club and goth gathering place the Chamber. Husband-wife team Randy and MarieAnn Rosko directed the no-budget flick, which is billed as "a forbidden tale of romance, betrayal, mystery and hate." The movie follows the converging destinies of the vibrant and young goth goddess Aurelius and Vondrick, a 16th-century vampire whose heart and very life are on the line. Many of the people you see onscreen are first-time actors, including Jim Konya, best known as the driving force behind metal band Schnauzer. "It's something that everyone wanted to do," says Konya. "You encourage people to check it out, maybe be creative too, and put it out there." (
