They don't make it easy for you to visit the 42nd floor of the Terminal Tower. It's only open on the weekends from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and to get there you have to navigate a confusing bank of elevators, circle the 32nd floor, and take a second elevator to the cramped, drab observation deck. But the view from the skinny top of Cleveland's great landmark is worth the trip. You can watch sailboats gathering on Lake Erie, crowds filling Jacobs Field, and drawbridges lifting to let ships cruise the Cuyahoga. On a clear day, the vistas stretch to Avon Lake in the west and the unnerving steam pillars of the Perry nuclear plant in the east. Tickets are $2, $1 for kids, at the info booth in the front lobby.
