Best Place to Adopt a Pet

Cuyahoga County Kennel

Looking for a medium-to-large dog that's already housebroken? The county kennel is the place. Otherwise known as the pound, the kennel recently moved into spacious new digs in an area where industrial parks abound. The modern, well-lit building features "interview rooms," where dog wardens interview prospective owners, and chew-toy-filled "get-acquainted rooms," where visitors can bond with the Fluffy or Growly of their choice before committing. While the dogs' pens are relatively small (about the size of your average doghouse), there are plenty of them -- so many that, ever since the kennel opened in February, no dog or cat has been put to sleep for lack of an owner. Friendly to both pets and humans, the staff is especially concerned about finding the right homes for the animals.
