Best Play

The Taming of the Shrew, by the Great Lakes Theater Festival

Among the past theater season's many fine productions, no show featured more sharply crafted performances and more exuberant joy. Directed by Drew Barr, this rendition of Shakespeare's classic featured Andrew May and Laura Perrotta in superb portrayals of the id-driven Petruchio and spitfire Kate. Adding to the production's pleasures were an imaginatively tilted set by Narelle Sissons and fabulous support by actors Wayne Turney and Dudley Swetland.
