We cry daily over the loss of the Katz Club Diner and its prettier sister the Bar Car. And while the occasional pop-up dinner does little to quell the anguish, it’s something. Tickets sell like hotcakes for chef-owner Doug Katz’ frequent pop-ups, which replaced regular lunch and dinner service following the fire. He goes all out when creating the menu for these popular events, providing guests with the kind of variety and value that brings them back. Pasta night with Caesar salad, spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread and tiramisu. Noodle shop night with bánh mì sliders, beef noodle pho and Vietnamese coffee custard. French bistro night with pork rillettes, frisee salad, beef Bourguignon, and creme caramel. These are a few of the reasons these pop-ups perk us up.
