Best Quote Machine

Mike Polensek

A couple of years ago, when Boston Globe columnist Derrick Z. Jackson wrote about using public money to build a new ballpark for the Red Sox, he quoted the mayor and the city council president. Nothing strange there -- except that the council president wasn't from Boston; he was from Cleveland. "The NFL took us to the cleaners," then-Council President Mike Polensek said of Cleveland's experience building Browns Stadium. "This is the price our city paid collectively to get the Browns back." Obviously, somebody had tipped Jackson off to what every reporter in Cleveland already knows: Polensek has the most glorious piehole in the city. It's not just that he always has something to say -- a quality shared by half his fellow council members -- it's that Polensek says it better than everyone else.
