Best Recording Studio

Ante Up Audio

Its halls are lined with gold records from the national artists who have recorded there, but Ante Up Audio is foremost a local-music haven. Sure, Dave Matthews will swing by to get a little studio work done when he's in town, but homegrown artists are just as welcome to record there. Singer-songwriter Kate Voegele made her first EP at Ante Up, and former Faith No More singer Chuck Mosley cut his recent solo record there. The studio, which pairs state-of-the-art equipment with vintage gear, also has hosted numerous concerts in its 2,800-square-foot Graphite Lounge, a concert space that has a lighting rig that will blow your eyeballs out. Owner Michael Seifert is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist who brings a workaholic energy to the studio, which also houses a record label and production company.
