Best Retro Dance Band

One of Cleveland's hottest new bands, Whitechapel is the closest this city has come to recreating New Order. And while the trio is steadily cultivating its image and sound, for now it's playing Factory Records-style dance music. 'Chapel's pulsing dance beats have a life of their own, but the music still has the chilly veneer that made classic new wave so cool. As to whether Whitechapel considers itself part of the "new" new wave, opinions within the band vary. "We are doing the same thing that people are starting to do today, pulling from all those great bands from the '80s," says singer-guitarist Ben Childs. "Not that we sound much like the Killers or Interpol, but I think we kind of share the same ideas about music."
