Best Sculptor

Scott Radke

Cleveland artist Scott Radke uses "subconscious imagery" to create mixed-media sculptures that feel like three-dimensional representations of Maurice Sendak or Tim Burton-induced mind-bending dreams. Many of his pieces — marionettes, free-standing and hanging sculptures — are "animal human hybrid explorations" that are "highly influenced by nature." Just check out his intense 68-inch, four-segment Totem commissioned by Morgan Spurlock that took him eight months to make, and you'll see Radke's simply operating on higher levels of consciousness and skill. You may have seen some of his paintings around town, too: Those surreal murals (often with morphed faces) all over Tremont are the works of Radke.
