Drivers in the Gordon Square Arts District

A bicyclist can feel the different moods of traffic, and those moods can change, depending on the neighborhood, time of day and, of course, drivers. The people who drive Detroit Avenue through the Gordon Square Arts District — which has been under construction for months, with traffic narrowed to two tight lanes — have proven to be exceedingly tolerant of cyclists. With foot traffic, construction crews and cyclists all using the same congested, narrow stretch of pavement, it's nearly impossible for a car to pass a biker riding through the neighborhood. It's a testament to the drivers that they never honk, shout obscenities or flip their middle fingers at cyclists pedaling through the area during rush hour. Cheers to them. Gill
