Best View From a Cemetery 

Garfield Memorial, Lake View Cemetery

After President James Garfield died of a gunshot wound in 1881, his admirers set out to built a sandstone tower, now blackened with age, that rises above the trees of Lake View Cemetery. Climb the 64 steps of the half-chapel, half-fortress, past the balcony where you can peer down at the statue of the ex-president, to the high parapet above the trees, and gaze out at Case Western's campus, downtown's skyline, and the lake stretching across half of your line of sight.
