As the creator of new jack swing, the late-'80s hybrid that revitalized R&B and gave hip-hop a leg up on its way to world dominance, Harlem native Teddy Riley is one of the most influential producers in history. Yet he's also made his mark as a performer in two different groups. Guy, his pre-fame trio, helped usher in new jack, but it was the quartet Blackstreet that enjoyed the biggest success. Formed after the breakup of Guy, when Riley realized he still had the urge to perform, Blackstreet scored with the monstrous 1996 Grammy-winning single "No Diggity," featuring Dr. Dre.

With a '90s revival just itching to happen, the timing is right to hear both of Riley's old groups, who'll headline a "New Jack Swing Reunion Tour" at the Wolstein Center Saturday. Also reunited for this show are singer Raphael Saadiq and his band, Tony! Toni! Tone! ("Anniversary," "If I Had No Loot"), and After 7, led by two of crooner Babyface's brothers -- who were, understandably, always more lovers than swingers.
