Blues Explosion

Jazz and cinema are two art forms that developed in tandem, and the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque celebrates this relationship in what’s been dubbed the Double-C JazzFilmFest. This first-ever jazz film series is dedicated to the memory of WCPN’s Jazz Tracks host Bobby Jackson. Director Martin Ritt’s 1961 film Paris Blues concludes the fest. Starring Paul Newman and Sidney Portier, the film contains a score by Duke Ellington and a performance by Louis Armstrong. The screening starts at 5:45 tonight, and the film shows against at 9:25 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $9. (Eric Gonzalez)
