Bobby Womack

When: Fri., Feb. 22, 5:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $15-$125
A 2009 inductee and Cleveland native, soul/R&B/gospel singer Bobby Womack rarely performs locally, even though he’s kept active (and just released The Bravest Man in the Universe, an album of new material, last year). He’s written hits for everyone from Wilson Pickett (who recorded his “I’m a Midnight Mover”) to George Benson and Janis Joplin. Hipsters will know him as the guy who collaborated with Gorillaz on groovy tunes such as “Cloud of Unknowing” and “Bobby in Phoenix.” Womack talks about his work in a Hall of Fame Series Interview today at 5:30 p.m. in the Rock Hall’s Foster Theatre and then performs a concert on the Rock Hall’s main stage at 8 p.m. Each event has a separate admission. Tickets to the interview are $15 and tickets to the concert range from $25-$50. A VIP package that includes admission to both the interview and the concert and includes a signed copy of The Bravest Man in the Universe costs $125. (Jeff Niesel)
