The Philadelphia hip-hop duo Chiddy Bang were blessed by indie-rock music bloggers a couple of years ago for one simple reason: They sampled artists that indie-rock music bloggers spend a lot of time writing about, like MGMT, Radiohead, and Sufjan Stevens. Their long-delayed debut album, following a pair of EPs and a series of mixtapes, is a radio-friendly smorgasbord, weaving club beats and alt-rock choruses into its playful songs about celebrating the good life. Like their spiritual predecessor B.o.B., rappers Chiddy and Xaphoon Jones don't go very deep on cuts like "Mind Your Manners," "Ray Charles," and the title track. But they sure bring the hooks. Like the morning meal it's named after, Breakfast can be good for you, but mostly it's a quick fix for something super-sweet. — Gallucci
